How to deal with a long haul flight when your on your period?

Okay, so i'm flying to America and its a 9 1/2 hour flight and it will take me 2 hours to get there in the car and i have to wait around 3 hours for my flight so would it still be okay if i wore a tampon ?

i know that you are only supposed to wear them for 8 hours but needs must ?

I am not going to change on the plane and i will wear a very absorbant pad aswell as the tampon

You should NEVER wear a tampon for longer than 8 hours. You will need to change your tampon during the flight. There shouldn't be a problem doing this in the restroom on the plane.

I wouldn't wear the tampon longer then 8 hours. I know it's not common but you could still put yourself at risk for TSS. It may be a long flight but the airplane has a bathroom with a garbage can in it. As for the 2 hr ride, you can always stop somewhere on your way to change your tampon. You will be fine.
I would wear a pad to the airport and right before you get on the plane I would put in a tampon and a new pad. Wear the tampon for 8 hours and then go to the airplane bathroom and remove the tampon and use the pad the rest of the trip. Usually in the bathroom they have extra pads/tampons. And you can always keep some in your carry on bag, just in case.
