Explain what changing each coefficient does to a polynomial?

my (horrible) teacher gave us the formula y=ax^3+bx^2+cx+d and said what if you change the coefficient to a fraction, whole number, negative, positive, etc. how does it change the way the graph looks for the equation. but he wants us to do that for the a,b,c, and d values. it's a big grade and. I'm really lost, please help!Explain what changing each coefficient does to a polynomial?
basically what it's asking is if you change the a, what will it mean for x? 1/2 x^3 looks different than 2x^3 right? explain that change

do the same for each of the letters
